The Liberty Lake Sewer and Water District No. 1 is seeking a Sewer Collections Operator for the District’s Water/Wastewater Operations. The District is located 17 miles east of Spokane Washington and 3 miles from Idaho state line. The District is governed by a 3 member Board of Commissioners. The District has 14 employees including the General Manager, office, WRF and field staff.

The Water/Wastewater Operations Sewer Collections Operator functions as a multi-skilled professional who performs and coordinates a variety of specific and non-specific jobs related to operation, maintenance, customer service, and on-call emergency service of the District’s sewer and water facilities. This position is focused on the District’s sewer collections system, but may also be involved and on-call for the water distribution system.

Job Functions:

This position performs a variety of duties in support of the District’s wastewater collection system and water distribution system.

• Operates pumps, control systems, and power equipment.
• Performs varied manual work and operates specialized equipment to maintain and/or repair wastewater collection and water distribution systems; including inspecting and recording.
• Operating a variety of vehicles, machinery and tools, including but not limited to compressor, generator, locator, gas detector, power/rotating machinery and hand tools.
• Performs and helps coordinate customer service duties such as responding to customer calls, emergencies, and complaints.
• Assists in District construction and repair projects and performs duties such reviewing plans and schedules, on site problem solving, or interfacing with customers and contractors.
• Performs daily maintenance of sewer lift stations, pumps, etc., as required and documents necessary records.
• Performs regular District facility checks.
• Performs preventative and corrective maintenance and repairs.
• Monitors and/or records SCADA/Telemetry systems, gauges, meters and control panels.
• Performs on-call and emergency service duties, serves as a first responder, troubleshooting problems, and performing or coordinating responses.
• Available for on-call duty and after hour emergencies.
• Provide on-call status for evenings, holidays and weekends rotation.
• May require after hours, weekend and holiday work as required by emergency or work assignment.
• Must be able to get to district boundary from residence in 60 minutes for on-call rotation.
• Physical ability to conform to all safety requirements.

Qualifications: Any combination of education and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position. The Water/Wastewater Operations Sewer Collections Operator must have appropriate knowledge of the construction and maintenance of sewer collection and water distribution systems, public health and water quality requirements and cross connection control. The Sewer Collections Operator must have the ability to use a variety of potentially hazardous tools safely and efficiently, including knowledge in the use and maintenance of motor vehicles and in the use of hand and power tools. Personal communication skills are essential to interact with individuals and customers.
